Brat Alert

Okay Y'all, I have a serious brat alert on my hands. If you have any advice it really would be greatly appreciated. My daughter is absolutely out of control. If she is sad it is a screaming fit, if she is mad it is a screaming fit, if she is happy it is a screaming fucking fit, arghhhhh! So What Exactly Do I do??? If you have any advice I would greatly appreciate it. She does not respond to: time out, taking away of toys, spanking's, any loss of priveledge what-so-ever! HELP. I know I am soliciting an internet's worth of advice, but feel free to pass it on REALLY, before my son picks up some super bad habits .

I know this advice probably won't help you feel any better, but the best way I've found to stop bratty behavior is to totally ignore it. Tell her, "Mommy isn't going to pay attention to you when you behave this way, as soon as you decide to calm down and talk to me, I will give you my full attention." Believe me, I know it sounds ridiculous, but it was the only thing that ever worked with my middle hellion child. Once she realizes she won't get her way by screaming, she will stop doing it. Hang in there, I know it's hard, but just wait until she is a teenager!!!!!!! :)

Thanks Paula, the ignoring thing does circumvent a full blown tantrum, or stop it cold most times.

I agree with Paula. I've found that two of my three have stopped with a lot of negative behavior once I stopped giving them the attention. Of course, this isn't foolproof and is easier said than done, but on the occasions that I've had the right mind to try it, ignoring the bad behavior works.

I ignore my daughter when she throws a fit- which is whenever she doesn't get her way basically- and she's only 17 months old so I only wonder what I have in fucking store.

I know this won't help you now, but my husband and I started to talk sternly to her at about 1 year. She's nearly 2 now, and though she does have the occassional strop now and then, she actually listens to us (more often than not), and when I say "enough!!!", she will actually stop acting up almost 100& of the time. I started to do that (and ignoring her moans)when she started having tantrums at about 14 mo in stores, and I'm amazed that it's stuck.
